learning curve (while biking)

Upon returning from my bike ride to my local bank’s branch, I am processing through the verbal assault I received on my journey. I biked up about a 45 degree grade hill for nearly 10 minutes when I noticed a huge black Ford truck coming right at me. I kept to my side of the road as he accelerated in my direction. I glanced the idiot in the eye with a baffled look why he would need to accelerate so fast going down hill. Perhaps he never took Physics, I thought. About 5 minutes later, he pulls up next to me (still in his angry black truck complete with Nascar stickers and tough guy gun racks), threatens me with “Did you say something to me just now, because if you did…” To which I replied, “I don’t even know you.” and “Sorry, don’t think so.” He finished with “because if you did.., I’ll..” to which I replied “eat a ham sandwich”.

Fury overcame him as he floored his truck onward and tried to turn around on the one way street lined with cars. Laughably, I turned my little folding bike around and was off in another direction while he wedged his monster truck in between the parked cars and blocked traffic.

All I can think of now is how humiliating it must be to be so aggressive and put down immediately after trying to be a tough guy. I also wonder why anyone would go out of their way to track down someone who they can’t prove said anything in the first place. Also, even if the individual (me) did say something, what would be the point in stopping to mess with the individual unless he was packing a gun or wanting to start something.

Sometimes, I don’t know why I have the guts that I do. I only know that I’m happy that I don’t simply take crap dished out to me without reason. Now, if you’d like to reason with me, I’ll sit and go there all day. Truth is, folks, there are some angry people out in the world who either never felt love or were forced to prove themselves daily and we must help them.
