Computigue

I spend a large part of my day on my laptop computer. Like most people approaching middle age, I’ve noticed my energy levels are down and I don’t have the same stamina I might have had in my early twenties. So, now I’ve begun to notice this same lack of energy while surfing the internet or writing a paper. Although, I think the fatigue I experience in front of a screen is one that comes from wearing out my eyes and brain.

I always revert to age 12 when I think about the endless fountains of energy I once had. Now, more than 3 times that age, I have come to accept that the only way I can reach that amount of energy again is through regular exercise and a good diet. Even then, I will likely never have the same amount I had as a teenager. So, as I mentioned, I noticed that this has taken it’s toll with my use of the computer. I’ve come to experience what I call “computique”, a built-up tiredness as one approaches an overload with the use of a computer.

With all of the different energy and caffeineated drinks available today, I’m sure someone will come across the novel idea that computigue is born from eye and brain fatigue, come up with a product, and bam, make millions. Well, I wish it were all that easy. Not only is getting older a bit tiresome, it turns out, combining tasks that require eye and hand coordination plus brain interaction, wears out the best of them. I can see it now, Compufresh, an aerial spray that defeats the fatigue causing elements of any environment. Available now for a quick swipe of your debit card.
